SCRBC

June 25 - 26 in Dallas is the first ever South Central Regional Barista Competition. Mike Mckim from Cuvee Coffee Roasters is heading up this monumental event, along with a handful of sponsers. Clancy and Patrick from Medici are going to compete. It will be so much fun. So if you know of anybody who wants to throw down tell them to sign up. If you don't know how to compete, you can contact me (Michael) or Mike from Cuvee. You make 4 single espressos, 4 single caps, and 4 of your signiture drink (no drinks with alchohol) all in 15 mins. There are 4 judges watching and judging on cleanliness, presentation, technique, taste, and much more. Whoever wins the regional gets a free ticket to Minneapolis MN and a bye into the semifinals of the United States Barista Competition.

Latte art comp and Intelli Party

Cameron and I had a blast at the Intelligentsia party. They just opened a new roasting facility in L.A.. I had to blog about this because it was awesome and hilarious all at the same time. Great party and there was a latte art competition. Drinking and driving don't mix and latte art is included in this category. It was awesome, people were cheering and booing. Baristas from all over the U.S. and the world were throwing down. I don't know who actually won, I am to old for late nights. I left at 12 and the comp was still going strong.

Long Beach SCAA

Cameron and I went to Long Beach California for the Specialty Coffee Association of America's annual conference. It was awesome! We geeked out with fellow coffee retards. It is great to be around people really desiring to take coffee to the next level. We joined up with some of our other local austinites. John, Myself, Scott, Doug, and Cameron are in the picture below. Scott and John are from JP's Java and competed in the competition. Doug is from Waterfall Gourmet Beverages.

Cameron and I are haveing lunch with our rockin roaster and his right hand man. This is team Cuvee - Mike Mckim on the right and Hookem Dano on the left.
