Party for Patrick and Clancy

Well, we had a great time. We had a pony keg of Live Oak and a latte art competition. It was a lot of fun.

Chris (our intern) and Clancy

Patrick and Ron (also a finalist at SCRBC)

ED (Medici), Cat (Ed's better half), and Dan (Cuvee)

Cameron (Medici), Jen (JP's) and Katie (JP's) - Garret is pondering the mysteries of life in the background

Emily and Diana (It might not look like it but they are working. Diana had to close that night while the party was going on. Thank you Diana and Mr. Manes also.)

Here is Katie again and one of our awesome customers Becky. She will kill me if she knows her picture is here. She is a good customer of ours and JP's Java. She went all the way to Dallas to watch Scott, John, Clancy, and Patrick. So cheers to you Becky and thanks.

Ed and Mr. Manes - Manes threw down some mean latte art, but took a sip out of his drink and was disqualified. We sent him to the dungeons and had him flogged.

SCRBC - We are back

We had a great time! Clancy and Patrick competed in the competition. Patrick won and Clancy got second. It was really close and they both did great. For those of you who don't know anything about the regional barista competiton, I will try to explain. A Barista is judged on his performance. He must serve four single espresso and four single cappuccinos and four of his signature beverages (which the espresso must be prevelant). They need to complete all of this in 15 min. It is a very rigorous competition. There are a total of 7 judges evaluating the Barista's skills. They judge taste balance, technical skills, presentation, cleanliness, consistentcy, extraction times, and more.

The winner of the regional competition (Patrick Pierce) will go to national to compete for the U.S. Barista Competion. The winner of the U.S. will go onto the World Barista Competition. Clancy will also being go to the U.S. Barista Competition.

Patrick's performance at finals

I had to split it up into 3 because it was to big to do as one. They are in order and all happen in 15min.

Clancy's performance at Finals

This is one performance, but I had to chop it up because it is 15 min long. So when you are done with the first one go to the next.

Patrick and Clancy SCRBC

So here are the two holigans that are going to compete at the SCRBC. This is the first ever for our region. So if anyone can make it we will be at the Dallas Convention Center June 25 and 26.

This is Clancy. He has been a Barista for at least 2 yrs and weighs 78 lbs. He likes just about everything with a lot of passion. Coffee happens to be on the top rung of those passions.

Patrick showers everyday and we think this will win him some points with the judges. He as been a barista for 2+ years and rocks it behind the bar.

Best Coffee

Pretty crazy. We got "Best Coffee" in the Austin Chronicle's Restaurant Poll - critics choice. Starbucks won the peoples choice. I guess that makes sense, because more people frequent starbucks. We hope to keep rockin it! We are still pretty young as a shop, but we love coffee. I would link you to it but don't know how. I'll ask Paul he knows everything.
