Cappuccino?

Why do we recommend the cappuccino to people? This is a great question.

Most people are intimidated by the intensity of flavor in an espresso. But firstly we would recommend an espresso.

However our traditional cappuccino (7oz), we believe, makes our espresso more approachable for first time espresso drinkers. The reason I say approachable is that the sweetness in the textured milk compliments the flavors in our espresso. The sweetness comes from not over heating the milk. This way you can begin the journey towards understanding the flavors in our espresso.

Traditional Cappuccino = 8 to 5 oz beverage with 2 shots of espresso and steamed milk. Their should be some delineation in milk texture. A dry cappuccino has a heavier foam almost airy and a wet cappuccino has very little milk distinction. At Medici we make our cappuccino in a 7oz cup with a creamy textured milk with 1 to 2 cm of milk contrast steamed to 130 degrees.

Summer Time is Here!

So it is summer time and we like getting post cards from all our world travelers. So take notes of the coffee shops you visit because we want to know about them.

If you need some recommendations on shops to visit wherever your travels take you, just ask a barista and they might be able to give a few to go to.

We hope you miss us because we miss you.

And to all that are hanging out with us all summer, you can also send us a post card.

What are we up to?

This is a great question. I just wanted to give an update about what we are doing and where we are going.

We have been having a great time serving our customers. It is fun to see the same faces and getting to know the communities we are a part of.

We are trying to elevate the craft of being a barista and honing our skill. Our training and continuing education is growing as we grow. Patrick Pierce is developing and implementing our training program. We have really seen the skills of our baristas grow across the board, and it is exciting to see we have so much more we can learn.

Lorenzo Perkins has worked to bring the coffee world together here in our region. The Saturday Night Smackdown happens the last Saturday night of every month. There has been a great turn out from Baristas, Roasters, and coffee lovers from all over Texas and Austin. It starts with a cupping and/or a coffee educational component and ends with a latte art contest among baristas.

Cameron Burr is the master mind behind the videos we have been posting once a month. He is our general manager at the Guadalupe store and part owner of Motorboat Movies which does our videos. In August we are going to do weekly videos focusing on coffee education, the baristas, our customers, and whatever other crazy ideas we come up with.

Sean Henry our general manager at WL has been keeping all our customers informed with the monthly Renaissance Herald. If you are not getting this e-newsletter, just email us at caffemedici@caffemedici.com and we will put you on the list. He talks about our coffees, events, and announces the video for that month.

These are just a few things we are up to.

Thank you guys for checking us out and your support..
